Hey, I’m Kim. Lindsey’s best friend, and room mate. This is us:
currently we are sitting in our living room looking at blogs. Lindsey is making me tea cause I’m sick and she’ sweet like that. She is a servant. I’ve asked her to be her guest blogger for the night, because well… she sucks at blogging lately. Maybe you all can give her some encouragement to barf out all her amazing thoughts on life back into her bluestraveller space online…
So, Lindsey loves starbucks. I think all of us girls do. It’s just our thing. I think in college we went every night almost. If we didn’t make a pot of coffee we were driving to visit our favorite Barijsta Chris at the Starbucks on Harrison. We practically lived there.
Lindsey’s new drink of choice is an iced coffee. She’s ranted and raved about it with room for cream quite a bit, so I think I’ll try it next time I go. We have one other room mate Meagan. You can tell we like coffee by looking at our kitchen counter:
There is this girl named Melissa. She’s all right. She hangs around us at night and is some what awkward. We let her live with us in college too. Actually she’s one of our best friends. She likes plants, this is our plant. If you went to cbu, you know and love him as “fernie”. He still sits in our apartment today, a bit more crispy and with less energy. I think we need to buy him new soil. Melissa and I often interpretive dance late at night, when the moon shifts Fernies leaves just the right way and we’ve had one too many drinks at starbucks.
So what else, Lindsey and the rest of us roomies move out in a month. Than she leaves for Ukraine, than she comes home and is in my wedding. Now she’s waiting on a few job opportunities for the fall… and that’s all there is to Lindsey’s life as of now.
Oh and her boyfriend Raj is coming to visit CA in 8 days. She’s pretty excited and keeps talking about it. She’s a little twitterpated. It will be fun to hang out with Raj, cause I don’t know him that well yet.
Lindsey is arranging flowers for my bridal shower in this pic. I just liked it so I thought I’d post it. Cause after all I’m in charge because I’m the guest blogger!!

What a FUN post! When I come visit in August can I be a guest blogger?! Seriously. Twiterpated eh? I love it!!
May 1, 2007 at 6:00 am
I’m not sure if I should comment about the shameless self-linking in the first line, the over-caffeinated state that leads one to post on their own blog as well as someone else’s, the furious abuse of homonyms, or how very grateful I am that you posted the very cute arranging flowers picture. 🙂 I think I’ll just stick with thankful. I appreciate the entry, Kim.
Oh, and hi Lindsey. 😉 Can’t wait to see you in a week!

May 1, 2007 at 6:48 pm
Kimmy, thanks for the post. It was very funny, even if a little scatter-brained. It was nice tho, as I haven’t seen anything new on this page for quite a bit and I check it EVERY DAY.
Cooper, I miss you friend. We need to catch up. I think I will be in R-side on the 13th to hang out, etc….. Az invited me. Call me.

Kim, homonyms are words that sound alike but are spelled different and have different meetings. To, two, and too are the best examples, but “than” and “then” are close enough to be called homonyms in my book. “Than” is comparative and “then” indicates the progression of time. This has been middle of the night grammar with Raj.
May 2, 2007 at 7:54 pm
coop, please start blogging again. your reading public misses you…. then kim won’t have to step in and save you (can you say co-dependant?) 😉
kim, very funny post. will you come guest-post on mine some day? sorry to hear you’re feeling sick too.

Raj,
If you are going to correct a person’s grammar, you should be more careful. Different/differently, as in “spelled differently”? As we all know different is an adjective; differently is the adverb. Sheesh, man, come on! Oh, by the way, this is Raj’s brother-in-law in Texas. I couldn’t help but go after the low-hanging fruit there at Raj’s expense. I have a confession that I have been casually clicking over since this lindsey link suddenly appeared as the number 3 link on Raj’s own. I thought it might be a good idea to get to know this person who could convince Raj to move to California. Yeah, sure, he has the sister in LA and all, but she hasn’t been able to convince him of anything since that “soap-chewing” incident back in the 90’s. 🙂 With any luck Raj may still talk to me after this. Only time will tell…

dawn. you put the co in co dependent. i love you… 🙂 thanks for the love
May 2, 2007 at 11:53 pm
and of course i’d be a guest blogger on your blog
May 3, 2007 at 6:46 am
Joe,
I apologize. The adjective/adverb thing is a rookie-grammarian mistake.
To be fair, I wrote that at 8:10am, and we all know that my brain doesn’t punch in until after 10am.
Also, for the record, I’m moving to California for Jesus. It just works out really nicely for me that his cute friend Lindsey lives there. And Azina never made me chew soap; she just got me to say things that ended up with me getting my mouth washed out with soap – totally different.

Wow. Thanks Kimmysun. Coop had definitely been slacking, but with that there blog, I think we’ll all be good for a while! And yeah, I think i need to try that coffee drink of Coop’s soon too, cuz you’re right — she has definitely been talkin it up!

Raj and Joe,
I was totally NOT going to post on the subject of the homonym, but I couldn’t resist: homonyms are pairs of words that share the same pronunciation, the same spelling, or both. The difference is in the meaning. Raj, you were close in your definition, but you forgot such words as stalk/stalk, in which one such use denotes freakishly following someone around and the other speaks to the trunk portion of a plant.
Also, I gotta ask Azina about the soap story. That sounds hilarious in any case. Hope you guys are well.
Lindsey, sorry to use your page as a message board, but by the looks of it, you aren’t really using it. 🙂
May 3, 2007 at 7:56 pm
Okay I have to jump aboard the homonym train. First of all, Raj with your background in Latin and Greek I’m terribly disappointed in your difficulty with this subject. 😛 What you were referring to are actually homophones, words that sound the same but are spelled differently. homo – same, phone – sound. homonyms are as what Keith explained same pronunciation and spelling, but not either or, they must be both. homo – same, nym – name. Then there are the ever ellusive homographs which are spelled the same but can be pronounced differently. homo – same, graph – written. ex: bear (carry), bear (grr). lead (to be in charge), lead (don’t eat paint chips). Lead and lead are simply homographs. Bear and bear are homonyms. And bear (grr or carry) and bare (naked) would be homophones. Thus ends my contribution. 🙂
Keith, I will tell you the soap story later, it is best told in person. Thank you Raj for your slight defense of me. And Joe never underestimate my ability to convince people of things even after soap incidents.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog. 🙂 Sorry for the hijacking Lindsey! Look forward to seeing you soon! Please blog more, I enjoy it.
May 3, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Wow. I’m not sure if I should feel honored by all the comments or used. 🙂 I will blog more. Promise. Azina, I’m excited to hang out soon! Joe, I’m looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the family! To everyone else: don’t hate the player, hate the game. I don’t know why I wrote that it just felt right. I’m done now.
May 3, 2007 at 9:49 pm
I love iced coffee Linds! Room for cream and easy sweetner! Let’s do it together sometime, don’t forget that Mo isn’t the only one moving across the country… 😦
May 3, 2007 at 10:57 pm
Azina, I am impressed with your breakdown of homo-everythings. haha.
Cooper, this means you must blog more, as we have taken to discussing everything except your words on here. What gives? No time to blog? Really?
Raj, please make her blog more. It is in everyone’s best interest.
May 3, 2007 at 10:59 pm
oh, one other thing Az. The OED, among other sources, notes that a homograph and a homophone are both types of homonyms. So, I was right. 🙂
May 3, 2007 at 11:19 pm
Lindsey, I am glad you promise to blog more, that will be excellent. 🙂
Keith, haha glad you’re impressed by that 🙂 And you’re mostly right on the homonyms, but they have to be spelled the same. Some homophones can be homonyms. My error that homophones have to be spelled differently, they do not. So something like bear and bear and bear and bare are all homophones, but only bear and bear are homonyms and homophones. And some homographs can be homonyms, thus bear and bear actually fall under all 3 categories.
blue and blew – homophone
train and train – homonym, homophone, and homograph
lead and lead – homograph
I think the key is that something has to be a homophone and a homograph to be a homonym. And if the OED disagrees, then 😛 Actually it seems etymologically I would be correct, though connotatively homonym tends to be used “more frequently than homophone, a technical term, when referring to words with the same pronunciation without regard to spelling. Homonym is also used as a synonym of homograph. Thus, it has taken on a broader scope than either of the other two terms and is often the term of choice in a nontechnical context.”
Okay I’m done being a nerd. Lindsey I apologize again!
May 3, 2007 at 11:28 pm
Wow! 🙂 Awesome. I think that closes the discussion quite well. You win with your super knowledge (and resource skills). 🙂
May 4, 2007 at 7:18 am
I find this all hilarious, though I’m afraid I’ve created a monster. Furthermore, I am deeply ashamed that I was not more specific in my grammatical critique. Homophone is one of my favorite words in the world.
Anyone that knows Lindsey knows that I could never “make” her do anything, though I’m not sure I would if I could. She makes good choices on her own (if I may say so myself), so I imagine she’ll be back to the blog realm rather soon. 🙂

wow. i should be a guest blogger more often! look at all this comment action.
